About

With 15+ years of public-school teaching experience each, owners Mark and Holly Messner share a passion for education and contributing positively to the development of others. Mark is focusing his efforts on designing and creating a space where people can enjoy the benefits of bouldering.

As an educator Mark, established a no cost after-school running program after recognizing a need for students to improve their fitness and develop friendships through healthy competition. This program focused on leadership, communication, perseverance and sportsmanship, through distance running. Each year captains were selected to lead their teams after completing a series of leadership trainings. As an end of the year reward for their dedication, Mr. Messner shared his interest in climbing with these captains by arranging for a field trip to a local climbing gym. This trip served as a team building experience for the students as well as the catalyst for the concept of Rendezvous.

While the climbing walls at Rendezvous have been designed by a team of exceptional wall builders, the gym itself also incorporates a variety of spaces that are designed for climbers to connect after their ascents. The gym will offer diverse bouldering experiences suitable for all skill levels including a beginner friendly top out area as well as a variety of slab and over hanging features. Bouldering is an inherently social sport, and the gym will provide spaces for people to enjoy spending time in. Rendezvous will offer food and beverage services at our cafe, ample gathering spaces, space for local musicians, places to watch sporting events and a flexible event space that can accommodate various groups.

We have designed our space to ensure everyone that comes to use enjoys their experience and will soon return. We are committed to being an ideal destination for groups of friends, individuals wanting to send some great routes, parents looking for an activity to do with their children, couple seeking an active date night, first time climbers, experienced senders of all levels and anyone else looking for an enjoyable experience.

We are committed to contributing positively to the community by using our facility for charitable events. We aim to provide access to people, particularly students, in our area that may not otherwise have access or exposure to climbing. There are countless mental and physical benefits to climbing and we intend to provide opportunities to people in our community opportunities to utilize them. As the gym prepares to open, we look forward to the opportunity to serve our community by giving back whenever possible.
